HISTORY
It was reported in the June issue of The Pattern 1942 that an evangelistic campaign had been conducted by Pastor Ivor Rosser of Bridgend South Wales.
The name of the building in which the church was founded was Centenary Hall which was a large church with a rear balcony and at the front a large platform area which incorporated a baptismal font. Behind the main seating area was a Minor Hall. The time of Pastor Francis Thomas as Minister were the years of the Second World War and although the market town of Mansfield was not an area that was bombed, there was, as with the rest of the country, a great sense of community. One of the members was the local undertaker, another had a large drapery shop in the town and another was the manager of the “Burton’s” Gents Outfitters. There was a very popular Sunday school and well attended Women’s Meeting. The Sunday Services were times of great blessing with a large congregation each week.
Grateful acknowledgement and thanks to Mrs. L Simpson (Niece of Principal George Jeffreys).
